Dust storm hits Kathmandu Valley, affects flights and road traffic

KATHMANDU: A dust storm hit the Kathmandu Valley at around 4 pm, affecting the traffic movement and flights in the late afternoon.
As the roaring storm lasted for 15 minutes causing darkness, it created panic among the Valley denizens. The road traffic was brought to a grinding halt in different places for half an hour or so.
The Tribhuvan International Airport, the country’s only international airport, was forced to close the runway for the time being due to poor visibility.

Even years after the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015, scores of families displaced from villages in Sindhupalchok have not returned, though geologists have said it is safe for them to return to their plots of land and rebuild. Besides, there are some whose land was rendered inhabitable and are eligible to relocate elsewhere, but are undecided where to.
Shyam Gole, whose house in Golche village was destroyed by the massive earthquake is eligible to relocate to any safer area to build a new house, but he has not been able to decide where he should relocate.

Student unions stage protest demanding pvt schools return inflated fees

Apr 25, 2018-Various Students unions on Wednesday staged a sit in protest outside the Department of Education demanding the private schools change their decision to take exorbitant fees during the admission. All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), Nepal Students Union (NSU), All Nepal National Free Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNFSU-R) among others staged the protest for about one-and-a-half hours outside the education department in Bhaktapur. ANNFSU secretary RC Lamichhane informed that the motive behind the protest was to curb the increment in school fees and to demand the return charged fee amount and to pressurise the concerned authorities to take action against those schools failing to do so. The students unions have been protesting against the private schools for not implementing the directives issued by the Education Ministry.
